So apparently Games-Workshop has decided to release another boardgame: Deathwatch Overkill.
So what do I think of it? At $280AU, it seems to me as an expensive risk, but unlike other GW products, this one will pay off for them. Why? Well, after denying players Deathwatch kill-teams for so long and the silence surrounding Genestealer Cults, fans will pay just to have something they have waited years for.
Don't get me wrong, I love the lore for both of these sides, but I doubt this box has anything to do with making an exciting game. At least GW had the decency to release rules for these guys, meaning that they can be used in 40K games (to a certain extent anyway), which was a smart move. The miniatures look good too, keeping well to the lore in that visual sense.
As much as I love the miniatures, I doubt I'll get it. I've waited a long time, but I simply can't afford $280. That's just too much to ask for. If they show up cheap enough on Ebay I might grab a few (both sides could work well with my Inquisition warbands), but this is just another product out of my reach.
