Barbarian Update

Just a quick little update on the Barbarian Mousling.
He's getting there. Still need to work on the tail, skin, eyes and another fur highlight. Base will have some green flock added to it for bushes, perhaps a few pieces of wire for some branches too. Still considering if the axe needs more work too.

And yes, the Squigs in the background are nearly finished too.

Of Killer Tomatoes

Watched Attack of the Killer Tomatoes today, gotta say I did enjoy it. I mean, the comedy was old, most of the songs were bad (theme is still awesome) and the story was cheesy in an annoying parody sort of way. One would think then that this Horror-Comedy movie was terrible, but you see, it's the exact opposite. It was a bad late 70's film that was ment to be, in a way, a parody of the horror genre and it was directed well enough that I found this classic to be very enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, the film is bad that does seem to drag out at points and most may not like it, but for me I found I enjoyed it more then I thought I would (and believe me I started watching it with the impression I was going to hate it).

In fact, I might try to track down the rest to review the series (I have seen Killer Tomatoes Eat France years ago, but would love to see it again) and perhaps I might do a review on the series as a whole. Who knows, might throw in the cartoon as a sequel review after.

Update 29/01/14: Just watched Return of the Killer Tomatoes and it does indeed scream 80's. The horror aspect is replaced more with a bad love story and the jokes seem even more painful then the last movie. With that said, John Astin as Professor Gangreen is brilliant. Might give a proper review late.

Another Mousling, Another Project

Given that I visit my mother regularly it's only fair to bring a model or two to work on (given that her place has air conditioning, great in this heat wave). So here is the Barbarian Mousling I'm working on. Have received my Games Workshop order today, which will go towards finishing my Inquisition force (well....) and also let me work on another conversion, Mevrix.

Mevrix was a Chaos Marauder I played as from the game Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, which sadly shut down in December last year. Given that I already made Glibbins McGibbinz (My Goblin Shaman) and the ever slow WiP Xzark (Sorry about that), it's only fair that I work on a few more. Yeah, I played a lot on the Destruction side, but I did play as Order too, including my best character, a Dwarf Engineer called Geegaw Hackwrentch (Yes, I did name him after Gadget's father from Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers - and yes, I will be doing a conversion of him in the future too). That said, Mevrix will now be elevated to the rank of Exalted Champion for all his hard work, that and it makes for a much easier conversion.

With any luck I'll get a few more days of cool weather to help me focus on this

Quick Thought On Tyranids

With the release of the new Tyranid Codex, a thought has occurred: they're not scary. While the idea behind them is (given that I'm a huge fan of the idea of constantly evolving xenomorphic creatures), it's the look of them which sort of destroys that image. I'll use one of their images to show my point:
It's the weapons. Seriously, how is making their bio-weapons mirror that of races like Humans and Eldar be considered an evolutionary step up? Swords, whips and (most importantly) their ranged weapons all look far too human to be considered alien. I prefer to imagine some terrifying alien creature leaping into combat with claws ready to tear you apart, not this thing in a sword duel with a Space Marine Captain. I would also think that a ranged weapon would have been part of the creature, instead of something which looks more tacked on then evolved.

This reason has been one of the major points why I never created a Tyranid force. As much as I love the idea behind them, their visual appearence just doesn't do them justice. But that's just my thought on it.

It's Quiet.....

Sooo.....2014 eh?

Alright, so I didn't do any updating during the holiday period. Two reasons for this, the first being it was the holidays so I was at my Mum's house helping out and seeing my two youngest sisters enjoy their Christmas. The second reason is that it's Summer here in Australia and it's been so bloody hot. Seriously, I can't stand heat (which makes me wonder why I still live in Queensland) as it makes me ill and lethargic. Doesn't help that I don't have air conditioning and that my room is almost five degrees hotter then outside. As such, it's been very difficult for me to work on projects and so very little has been done. Little work means fewer updates.

Still, Hope everyone had a great Christmas/New Years and here's hoping the best for all this 2014.
